Principal’s Message
Jeremiah 29:11 “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’
Dear Parents and Families,
This past weekend, I had the honor of witnessing a group of children receive First Communion. Many of these young people were from our 2nd grade class here at STMS, and we have been able to witness some of what occurred during their Religion classes this year to get them prepared for this sacred experience. Other students were part of our STM Parish community, including a family who had all four of their children (ranging from primary school age to high school age) participate in First Communion together. It was beautiful, moving and helped me remember what it was like for me to receive the Holy Eucharist for the first time. This moment was so special for me and I pray that it changes the relationship these students have with Jesus, as it did for me. The wonder, as well as the responsibility, of having Jesus dwell within us is to me, one of the remarkable aspects of calling myself a Catholic Christian.
In Christ,
Elizabeth Glaze

PreK 4 Mother’s Day Tea
Our students in the PreK 4 class honored their mothers last week with a special Mother’s Day Tea!
7th Grade Retreat
It truly was a great few days at our 7th grade retreat. Students enjoyed sun-filled days while they prayed, reflected and participated in challenging team building activities. We are sure they will have many warm memories of the days they spent with their classmates, building their sense of self and of their class community.
Thanks to our parent participants: Laurel Pehanich, Gary Ardiente, and Anna Golla for coming along and making our trip possible. Also, as many of you know, Mike Hequibal has the talent of taking some amazing pictures. He was able to be with us for part of the first day at retreat. Below are just some of his wonderful pictures, which truly capture the essence of the retreat.
Track Meet
On Friday, May 10, our students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade participated in a Track Meet with other local area schools at St. Mary Magdalene School. It was a beautiful, albeit hot, day and the students did a wonderful job competing and cheering on their classmates.
The Track Meet for grades 4th-8th was held on Tuesday, May 14th at the Everett Memorial Stadium. This was a much more elaborate event, but it went off (mostly) smoothly. We were all impressed with the sportsmanship and camaraderie of our students! A huge thanks for Mr. G, our fabulous PE teacher for helping to organize the event! Mr. G also made sure students had time in PE to prepare for the event and let the student choose (and help each other to choose) the right events for themselves! It was truly a student-centered experience! Below are just some of the wonderful pictures, once again taken by the talented Mike Hequibal.

COVID, Flu and RSV
As we head into the cold and flu season, I would like to send out a general reminder about health and safety guidelines. We have a host of illnesses circulating, including strep throat, continuing COVID cases, and at least one reported case of RSV.
Recommendations of the Snohomish Health District as we navigate the cold and flu season include ensuring that if students have active symptoms from any respiratory infections and/or have a fever, they should not come to school. Students who have had a fever must be fever-free for 24 hours without the use of medication before returning to school. In addition, The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends teaching children to cover their coughs and sneezes using their elbow or a tissue, and to always wash their hands afterwards.
Also, as we have had a recent case of RSV, I am including a resource provided by the Snohomish Health Department on signs of RSV, in addition to general guidelines and benefits of vaccinations for flu, COVID and RSV.
*If you have any questions regarding STMS guidelines, please contact the school office at (425) 743-4242. Please note that although STMS guidelines are based on the Washington State Department of Health and the Snohomish County Health District, we reserve the right to add extra precautions.
