Throughout the year St. Thomas More School continues our traditions that are designed to strengthen the community and advance the development of the mission. Please come and join us.
First Day of School Mass – This annual Mass is a great way to kick off the new school year! Mass begins at 11 am on the first day of school.
Mass of the Holy Spirit – Our school’s Student Council prepares and participates in this liturgical celebration. This Mass always takes place in September.
Blessing of the Pets – You and your pet(s) are welcome to come and be blessed and entertained while Father blesses the students, parishioners and neighbors pets. Additionally, we offer a chance for the students to bring in items that are donated to PAWS.
Veterans Day Assembly – STMPS has been blessed with many Veteran’s sharing their amazing stories with us and help us to recognize and honor our many military families and veterans of the school, parish and community. We have medals on display in our library from a decorated war hero, Ray Strogny, who bequeathed these items to the school. Our assembly is near Veterans Day.
Thanksgiving Food Drive – The students and their families are encouraged to send in items that are needed by the community to share with Catholic Community Services. These items are on the altar and blessed at the Thanksgiving Mass. This Mass is always the Wednesday prior to Thanksgiving at 11:00 a.m. This Mass is prepared by Sixth Grade and Kindergarten with a Communion Meditation performed by Kindergarten!
Pixie Gift Shop – Elves (parents) transform the Renggli Room into the Pixie Gift Shop where your student can do some Christmas shopping for the family (i.e. Mom, Dad, Grandma/pa, Brother and Sister), have the item(s) wrapped and be done with their Christmas shopping so they can enjoy the rest of the Advent season without the worry of not being ready for Christmas! This event happens in early to mid—December.
Christmas Concert – The highlight of every Christmas Season is the All School Christmas Concert. Information telling you what time to be there will be sent out as this event nears. This is an evening event.
Martin Luther King Jr Assembly – This assembly is presented by our Intermediate Grades in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Catholic Schools Week – Catholic School’s Week is kicked off the last Sunday in January with the School’s Open House. Please invite any of your family, friends, neighbors, etc. to visit our Open House. Student’s will have a variety of activities during the week to help us and them celebrate Catholic School’s Week!
Speech Tournament – Our school will be busy with poems, prepared readings, expositories and more. This annual tournament prepares our students for public speaking and beyond.
Lent – Our students have the opportunity to contribute to Heifer International (a nonprofit organization that helps those with very little receive life sustaining skills and livestock), share stone soup with all the students in the school, and prepare for the resurrection of our Lord. Our 8th Grade students walk us through Jesus’ last days performing the Living Stations of the Cross on Good Friday at Noon. Come share this moving celebration with us.
Stewardship Mass – Prepared by students to recognize the annual Stewardship theme and highlight our service to others.
Kinship Mass – Before the end of the school year, we will celebrate our First, Third, Fifth and Seventh Grade students’ family and friends. Our church is not large enough to accommodate all the classes inviting their kin. After the Mass, there is a brief reception in the student’s classroom.
Moving Up Ceremony – Our Moving Up Ceremony will be the last day of school. What a wonderful way to recognize the school, the classes and the students’ accomplishments from the school year. What a great way to end the school year!
